Work on the tunnel is currently progressing at a rate of approximately four meters per day from both ends—Sonamarg (Baltal) in Kashmir and Minamarg in Ladakh. This progress is achieved through controlled drilling and blasting. As reported by Harpal Singh, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL), only 300 meters remain to be excavated out of the total 13.155 kilometers.
