MUMBAI: After a spectacular maiden ODI century against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, Yashasvi Jaiswal has confirmed his availability to play for Mumbai in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) knockouts, scheduled from December 9 to 18 in Pune.

According to Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil, Jaiswal reached out to confirm that he will join the Mumbai team on December 11. He stated, "He spoke to me this afternoon and informed me that he’s available to play for Mumbai in the SMAT knockouts."

Jaiswal will replace Ayush Mhatre, who will lead the India Under-19 team in the U-19 Asia Cup in Dubai later this month. This change marks the only adjustment to Mumbai’s squad for the SMAT knockouts. Tournament Format and Schedule

The knockout stage of the tournament will utilize a ‘Super 4’ format, with Mumbai’s matches scheduled for December 12, 14, and 16. The grand final will occur on December 18, and the team will depart for Pune on December 10.

While reported that former captain Rohit Sharma expressed interest in participating in the SMAT knockouts, he has yet to confirm his availability to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

Mumbai secured their spot in the knockouts on Saturday, clinching their fifth win in six matches against Chhattisgarh. As the defending champions, they currently top Elite Group A with 20 points.
