Extensive Preparations at Ram Temple in Ayodhya for Major Pilgrim Influx

Introduction: Aiming for Kumbh Mela-Scale Management

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is proactively preparing for an anticipated influx of pilgrims at the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya. The Trust’s focus is on enhancing crowd management, infrastructure, and security measures, anticipating visitor numbers similar to those seen at major religious events like the Kumbh Mela.

Plans for Infrastructure and Crowd Management

Essential Preparations by the Trust

Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Trust, recently shared vital details about the ongoing efforts to accommodate the expected surge in pilgrims during special occasions. With this in mind, the Trust is bolstering various aspects of pilgrim management to ensure smooth, safe, and convenient experiences for all devotees.

Key Focus Areas: Footwear Management

One pivotal area of focus is footwear management due to the vast number of visitors expected. Rai emphasized the necessity of expanding existing shoe storage facilities to meet demand. Plans are underway to construct shoe storage rooms at two separate locations within the complex.

Capacity Enhancements for Visitor Amenities

Storage Facilities for Footwear

Upon completion, the new facilities will be capable of securely storing footwear for approximately 25,000 individuals simultaneously. Additionally, arrangements are being made to manage storage for up to 200,000 pairs of shoes in a single day. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at preventing congestion and allowing for orderly entry and exit from the temple complex.

Historical Context of the Ram Temple

Significance of the Original Ram Lalla Shrine

Rai reflected on the historical context surrounding the Ram Temple, recalling the time when Ram Lalla was initially placed in a small wooden temple. This site has deep significance for devotees and is regarded as sacred.

Security Measures: Boundary Wall and Infrastructure

Construction of a Robust Boundary Wall

As part of security infrastructure, a 3.5-kilometer-long boundary wall is being built around the temple complex. The construction design adheres to the specifications provided by prominent security agencies, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Special Security Force (SSF). Rai noted that while construction will be occurring over an extended period, it’s uncertain whether the wall will be completed by 2026.

Upcoming Ceremonies and Noteworthy Attendees

Pran Pratishtha Ekadashi Celebration

The Trust is preparing for the Pran Pratishtha Ekadashi, which will be observed on December 31. Rai mentioned that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been invited to attend the ceremony and has accepted the invitation. His presence, along with that of other dignitaries, signals the importance of the event.

Conclusion: Symbolic Completion of the Temple

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi symbolically marked the formal completion of the Ram Temple’s construction by hoisting the saffron ‘Dharma Dhwaj’ atop its spire. The ongoing improvements and preparations by the Trust indicate a steadfast commitment to facilitating a welcoming and secure environment for millions of future pilgrims.
